Big clean-up

An enthusiastic team of volunteers got their hands dirty to ensure Jumbo was ready for the annual Heritage Open Days. Armed with brooms and plenty of black bags, the helpers spent hours brushing, scrubbing and washing the Victorian landmark. Every one of the 157 iron stairs was cleaned and then the volunteers turned their attention to the floor of the huge water tank and the Engineers’ Room.

People wearing face masks clean a wooden floor inside a building.

Open to the elements, Jumbo is home to pigeons and the famous peregrine falcons, so it gets very dirty. Thanks to everyone who helped with the big clean-up.
