Feeling festive at Jumbo

We are delighted to announce our sparkling programme of festive events to be held inside Jumbo’s water tower.

Two photos: The top shows a choir singing on stage, wearing matching event t-shirts. The bottom shows four people posing in formal attire with red scarves, standing in front of festive decor.

The team at North Essex Heritage have organised carol concerts by two choirs and a performance based on Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story, A Christmas Carol.

Our festive fun kicks off on December 8 with the first of three hour-long carol concerts. The LGBTQ+ and inclusive choir Hic Sumus will sing for a small audience in the water tank surrounded by sparkling Christmas lights.

Two more concerts will follow on December 22 when the Minty Spectre choir, who are passionate about the performing arts bringing people together, will perform.

On December 13 Colchester’s Victorian landmark will host Minty Spectre’s special narration of A Christmas Carol accompanied with original vocal music. Four vocalists underscore the narrative with both traditional carols and newly composed music, creating an enchanting event with festive storytelling and song. The performers will be Joseph Rawlings, Chris Agha, Hannah Heaton, Emily Alice Ambrose and Adam Saiz Abo Henriksen.

This Victorian tale and the carol concerts will be performed to raise money for The Jumbo Project, which aims to save the historic building for community use. We are very grateful for the generous support of the performers, organisers, volunteers and audiences.

It is very cold in the tank. Audience members need to wrap up warm and be physically able to cope with the steep steps. Please study our safety advice before booking. Age restrictions apply. Tickets, priced at £30, are limited to 40 per performance.
