This Christmas, show your love for Colchester’s favourite landmark with our unique Jingle Bricks! appeal
We have made excellent progress in our fundraising to restore and repurpose Jumbo. We have received grants from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic England, the UK Government, Colchester City Council, the Garfield Weston Foundation and other funders, but we still have more to raise.
By sponsoring bricks for £5 each you can be part of our community-led efforts to turn Jumbo into a wonderful heritage visitor attraction and local asset. In return, we will provide a certificate of recognition for your sponsorship.

Please note that while we expect all of the money raised in this appeal to be spent on the restoration and repurposing of Jumbo, NEH is a small charity and any donations received are not set specifically aside for individual projects and may be used for any of the Trust’s work. Donations made to North Essex Heritage could be spent on other heritage projects in the area. We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator.

Bringing Jumbo back to life is a huge project – and every brick counts!
Jumbo’s heritage significance and conservation status means restoring it will be very expensive, and no single grant will suffice. Trustees are therefore gathering a cocktail of funding from a variety of sources.
Sponsorship of Jumbo’s 1.2 million Colchester-made bricks is at the heart of our wider Love Jumbo appeal and there is even more to get excited about.
In early 2026 we will be unveiling details of how you can sponsor other parts of the building, including the historic tank panels, supporting struts and brick archways. You’ll also be able to come up with your own ways of raising money for our Love Jumbo appeal. Please watch this space!
