The sky’s the limit for Jumbo’s first activities organiser
The charity behind The Jumbo Project has appointed its first full-time member of staff to lead the busy activities programme while the work to save the water tower takes place.
Joseph Rawlings will be Programme Manager responsible for developing and running events for people of all ages. The post is funded as part of a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Joseph was successful at interview after North Essex Heritage received many applications for the exciting role.
Joseph said:
“I am delighted to be joining North Essex Heritage as Programme Manager organising activities for The Jumbo Project. This is an exciting moment in the history of this nationally important heritage landmark, and I cannot wait to build on the community engagement of the past few years to get even more people involved in its future.
“Thanks to National Lottery players, we have a packed programme of tours, events and creative projects to take us up to and beyond the reopening of Jumbo, so I feel the sky’s the limit!”
Born and bred in Colchester, Joseph now lives in Brightlingsea with his partner Lizze and 20 week old son Reuben. An experienced events and project manager, Joseph is also an actor and performer who runs his professional theatre company, Minty Spectre. In December 2024, Minty Spectre performed a festive concert in Jumbo’s huge water tank in aid of The Jumbo Project.
